Virtual, Aug 2020 – Rocket Station announced the grand winners of the first-ever Rocketeer’s Got Talent (RGT) after dozens of online auditions from our team members across the Philippines. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to abide by safety regulations, the competition had to be held virtually. Regarding the mechanics of the event, the performances of each finalist were uploaded to our Rocket Station careers page for social media voting by the public. Hosting the finals were our very own Joannah Consencino and Kaey Soluta, the operations, and junior operations managers respectively. Similarly, the judges for the finals were other rocketeers as well such as our well loved Director of Operations, Romil Hombrebueno.

The 5 finalists for RGT were Angio Dionisio, Elcenor Scala, Francesca Miranda, Sebastian Lozano and Veronica & Christopher John Macatangay.

All the contestants received praise from the judges for their final performances. A common comment for most of the finalists is the improvement in production quality from the contestant. Regarding the results of the contest, although it was quite a close call, only 1 talented rocketeer could win the grand prize:

In third place, with 9.77% of the total votes, were Veronica and Christopher John Macatangay with their rendition of ‘All of me’ by John Legend

Coming it at 2nd place is, Elcenor Scala. She sang the power ballad I wanna know what love is’ by Foreigner and managed to win a very impressive 34.81% of the total votes.

Finally, the very first-ever grand winner of RGT was Francesca Miranda with 42.24% of the total votes. Her mash-up of ‘Senorita’ and ‘Havana’ by Camilla Cabello wowed the judges with Romil expressing his awe at her unique voice.

Aside from bragging rights, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners were awarded 10,000, 7,000, and 5,000 Philippines pesos respectively. The other finalists that did not place in the top 3 received 2,000 Philippines pesos as consolation prizes.

This was our first-ever Rocketeer’s Got Talent and it was a great success as evident from the high engagement with the social media voting for the competition. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, I’m glad we at Rocket Station was able to still highlight the abundant talent that can be found in our Rocket Station team

However, that doesn’t mean we just step back and accept these episodes of lower productivity and overall happiness. These are the times when we need to step up even more to motivate ourselves.

Virtual, June 26, 2020 – Our Rocketeers gathered virtually around the Philippines to record and sing the world-famous song by Michael Jackson, We Heal the World. A virtual world is at the heart of Rocket Station’s work. philosophy. With this ‘Heal The World’ virtual performance Rocket Station sends a clear message to collectively strengthen our community.

Rocketeers are seen showcasing their talents by playing various instruments like the guitar throughout the song and some used proper equipment that truly capture the beauty in their voices. Rocketeers sing with their hearts to remind us that together we can make a change in this world.

The song begins with “There’s a place in your heart, and I know that it is love”, reminding us that we do have the ability to love, and with love comes the willingness to help people. “Make a little space, make a better place” illustrates that with care for others in our hearts, there is space in this world for all of us to live in harmony if we try. Simple actions can change the world to make it a better place for us, our children and future generations.

The lyrics “Heal the world” nudges us that the world is full of sorrow and that we need to lend a helping hand. Our Rocket Station Cares Program was started with pure intentions to “make it a better place, for you and me and the entire human race”. The Cares Program aims to give back to our community in more ways than one. These simple steps that our Rocketeers do can and will make changes. By working together we can slowly start achieving our peace.

The video ends with the hashtag #HealThe World with love, kindness, unity, peace, positivity, generosity, hope, and prayer.

Barangay, Quezon City, 4 May 2020 – In an aim to give back to the community and help those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic, Rocket Station Cares partnered with The Happyness Project to donate food relief packs. The Happyness Project is a Non Profit organization based in the Philippines that serves food relief packs to those in need all over the country. In 2019, their philanthropic efforts served over 1,500 meals to the less fortunate and shared over 350 volunteer hours.

The target was focused on the Barangay of Bagong Silang district in Quezon City. Over 300 food relief packs were distributed, approximately 20% of the food packs distributed in the whole of 2019 by The Happyness Project. This project was targeted at daily wage earners who were negatively affected by the lockdown and were unable to earn incomes. Each food pack cost about 200 pesos.

Due to the nature of Rocket Station’s virtual business, our company was more than capable of successfully operating throughout the lockdown and was not as negatively impacted as the daily wage earners we strived to help today. The number of people unable to earn incomes is increasing as businesses struggle to stay afloat. It looks like it will still be a while before this pandemic is over and the world returns to normal. At this critical juncture, it is important to do what we can to alleviate the growing pain that still exists. This is only the beginning of Rocket Station’s efforts to come together as a community to help one another.

With that said, the joint partnership to serve the community by Rocket Station’s Cares program and The Happyness Project was a huge hit. In the words of The Happyness Project team, “As we continue this fight against COVID-19, we will need more brilliant allies in the private sector to bolster our endeavors. We love you to the moon and back ROCKET STATION!”.

Interested to be a part of the movement of kindness? Help the relief effort by donating just 200 pesos per food pack through The Happyness Project. Every little bit helps in providing those less fortunate with food to help get them through this pandemic.

Calabarzon, Batangas, Jan 20 2020 – After 40 dormant years, the Taal volcano erupted and left behind a desolate landscape. The volcano lies in the province of Batangas and just about 60 kilometers away from the capital city of the Philippines, Manila. The repercussions of the eruption were far-reaching as dangerous ash spread across the neighboring provinces, even reaching the northern parts of Luzon within hours.

Hundreds of families were devastated as the eruption filled entire towns with harmful volcanic ash that eventually mixed with rain and turned into a form of mud-like slush. Everything from the houses and cars to the roads and trees was damaged making it extremely difficult to move. Some of our very own Rocket Station virtual assistants and support teams were also affected by the natural disaster. In one estimate, according to earthobservatory.nasa.gov, damages to plants and animals totaled an estimated 577 million Philippine pesos. The biggest tragedy of all is that 39 unfortunate souls were lost directly and indirectly as a result of the Taal volcano eruption.

Without any delay and under the Rocket Station CARES Program, hundreds of heavy-duty masks were successfully shipped from Calabrazon to our Rocketeers in Manila in an effort to provide some support and relief. In efforts to personally lend a hand some of us Rocketeers took initiative and went door-to-door to deliver the masks to our colleagues within the area. Other members of our Rocketeers even went the extra mile by delivering relief goods to affected barangays in Batangas. Without fail, our Rocketeers delivered aid with enthusiasm and big smiles.

In times of crisis, coming together as a community is essential. Rocket Station lived up to its mission by stepping up during this crisis to enhance the lives of our internal community, our Rocketeers affected, as well as the external community i.e. the Barangays in Batangas. Although there is still a risk for the Taal volcano to erupt again in the future or even a risk of other natural disasters, we at Rocket Station have proven that we would always step up and be there for our people.

2019 – Rocket station visited different places in the Philippines including Baguio, Makati, Laguna, and Bacolod among others to celebrate amazing success and growth. There were a lot of regional events held and experiences such as hiking, picnics, dinners as well as giving back to the community.

Rocket Station Cares Program was launched this year in hopes to be able to give back to our external community. The first project was the School Outreach Program called Launch Ed. During the event the Director of Philippines Operations, Romil Hombrebueno along with our Rocketeers handed out school supplies to the children of Ricardo A. Pronove Elementary School (RPES) in Magdalena. The event was a hit as the kids and faculty were overwhelmed with joy. As Rob Nickell said, “We are going to have a lot more Rocket Station Cares Events”.

Rocket Station learned so much more during this year which allowed us to improve our strategies. We at Rocket Station aim to serve our VA’s better and give them a chance to experience and grow. “We always strive to be better every single day,” says Romil Homberebueno.

Rocket Station is excited about what more they will be able to accomplish going into the New Year and continuing the growth of the company as a whole. 2019 created so much opportunity and hope to continue that growth and momentum into 2020.

Makati, Manila, Dec 2019 – Rocket Station closed off the year with our biggest party to date, the #Standout Yellow Party. The party was held at the Buddha Bar in Makati. As the name suggests, the theme of the night was yellow, the official color of our company Rocket Station. The venue and our teams were decked out in all variations of the striking color from outfits to costumes and some even with yellow wigs. It was organized in celebration of our Rocket Station team, which constantly aims to standout through excellence and innovation.

#Standout was the fourth event of the year where we got to gather face to face. This is a rare occurrence considering that most of our interactions with each other throughout the year were done virtually. The night was filled with various fun activities:

There was lip-syncing competitions, dance challenges, performances, giveaways, and even a raffle whereby the winner was awarded 25,000 Philippines pesos.

Present on the night was a race car driver in a yellow jumpsuit, a beauty queen in her yellow dress, and one rocketeer even came dressed as a popular yellow Pokémon. Their extra added efforts definitely made our event that much more enjoyable.

Rob Nickell, founder of our Rocket Station company, and Romil Hombrebueno, our Director of Operations, were both judges for many of the performances that night.

Once the performances were over and all the awards were given out, the stage became the dance floor where us Rocketeers partied for the rest of the night. In the words of Rob Nickell, “I cannot tell you how proud I am of every single one of you [referring to us, of course, the Rocket Station team] and the opportunity that you are creating not only for yourselves but for other people as well. If you look around, this is our biggest party we’ve had yet. It’s a direct result of the effort that you’ve put in every single day”. The party was an impressive way to end the year and a fun way to reward us all at Rocket Station team for all our effort throughout the year.

Thank you once again Rocket Station for making it possible. To many more successful years together!

Bacolod, Visayas, Sept 21, 2019 – At Jaimes Cafe Riverside, Rocket Station rented some space to accommodate for our regional event. The Director of Operations, Romil Hombrebueno was present along with many of the Rocketeers and their families.

It was an enjoyable night filled with delicious food prepared by the restaurant, good music, laughter, and of course great company. Group pictures were a must at the event especially since face-to-face interactions with our team members are not an everyday thing. When Rocketeers get together after knowing each other virtually, it becomes a must to capture these precious moments. While most Rocketeers work from the comfort of their home and love it, gatherings held are also always enjoyable, especially when Rocket Station ensures these times are worth it.

Founder and CEO Rob Nickell was unable to come but he did pay us a little visit virtually to show support during our night and had this to say ” I’m glad you guys are having so much fun, I wish I was there, I wish I could eat dinner with you guys…but I will see you all in November we’ll plan something great… We’ll have a great party soon”

The night was a smash and ended with sending each of our Rocketeers home with some small souvenirs.

Rocket Station takes care of its Rocketeers, although expectations of exceeding expectations are encouraged, having fun while you’re doing it is a must.

Magdalena, Laguna, May 27, 2019 – As part of Rocket Stations give back program, ‘Rocket Station CARES’, we organized a school outreach program called #Launch Ed. The event took place at the Ricardo A. Pronove Elementary School (RPES) in Magdalena.

The #LaunchEd event was in line with the Philippines Department Of Education project called ‘Brigada Eskwela’ also known as the National Schools Maintenance Week. Brigada Eskwela is a nationwide initiative that aims to unite and mobilize thousands of parents, alumni, civic groups, local businesses, non-government organizations, teachers, students, and individuals who volunteer their time and skills to do repairs, maintenance work, and clean-up of public elementary and secondary schools.

We at Rocket Station contributed by providing essential school supplies to the students of RPES to start off their school year well prepared. Rocket Station’s Director of operations, Romil Hombrebueno, stated that the sentiment of Rocket Station’s mission to enhance lives through better business applied not only to team members and clients but to those in the community as well. With that said, our Rocket Stations team members traveled from “all parts of the Philippines just to be with the kids” and were encouraged to invite their families and friends to help out and join in on the fun at the event as well.

In the words of the school’s principal Bonaficio Togado to the Rocket Station team regarding #Launch Ed, “This is very big for the school especially for the students. To all of you, we give our thanks, and may the Lord give you abundant blessings in return”. While Analisa Macahasa, a teacher at RPES had this to say, “Thank you very much, Rocket Station! This is a big help for our students this coming school year”.

The event Romil explained is the first activity that they’ve done under Rocket Station CARES, and intend to do more in the future. It ended as a huge success with students and teachers expressing gratitude to the Rocket Station team. It was so successful that teachers expressed their wishes that for the upcoming years for Brigada Eskwela that the Rocket Station team would come back again to host more #Launched events. I know we would love that too!

Makati City, Philippines, March 2019 – Rocket Station held a leadership conference that brought the entire team including all the executives together for a night of fun and learning! This day was about how to better the experience for our client partners and our Rocket Station team members.

The leadership conference is one of the few times a year where Rocketeers can get together. Throughout most of the year, we at Rocket Station only see each other through the lens of a computer screen. The conference provided the us, Rocketeers, with an opportunity to reconnect with one another, face to face, fostering a better work culture.

The event is great for alignment and congruence among Rocketeers to talk about new projects, new goals, and to reset as a team. At the conference, we engaged in various team-building activities such as basketball and other competitive events in the spirit of health and wellness. Without fail the event of course included tons of delicious food that we indulged in.

CEO and Founder, Rob Nickell introduces and briefly explains that Rocket Station is the premiere virtual assistant staffing company in the world. It eliminates the obstacles and challenges faced by operators in building their teams. The mission of Rocket Station is to enhance lives through better business and with the goal to put businesses in a position to be as efficient and effective as possible by providing the most valuable resource PEOPLE. This mission to enhance lives encompasses all stakeholders, especially the employees.

Rob had this to say by the near end of the day, “Most of us work from a virtual environment. So, to get together a few times a year is a huge blessing. It’s a lot of fun for us”.

The VP of Business Development, Marc Nickell, expressed his thoughts regarding the conference, “this get together enables the members to learn and grow with each other as a part of the professional development as a group and as part of a continuity to really provide as good a service as possible for the clients”.
